Engineer Roles (Mid, Senior, Lead)
You’ll join 8pod as it transitions from working with a third-party development team to establishing its own local teams in South Africa and Australia to drive its upcoming launch to market.
In these roles, you will be responsible for building a suite of products from the ground up, ensuring they are scalable and high-performing systems and working with AWS and Docker to deploy, manage, and optimise our applications in a cloud-native environment.

What’s my day-to-day?
Design and Development: You will be responsible for building, testing, and maintaining Java-based back-end services and APIs. This role requires close collaboration with front-end developers and other team members to ensure seamless integration of user-facing components with server-side logic.
AWS and Kubernetes Management: You will manage the deployment of applications on AWS, leveraging services like EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda. Additionally, you will handle Kubernetes for container orchestration, ensuring applications are scalable, highly available, and efficiently managed.
Performance Optimisation: In this role, you will be tasked with analysing and optimising application performance, focusing on factors such as latency, throughput, and resource usage. You will implement caching strategies, load balancing, and other performance-enhancing measures to ensure smooth operation.
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): You will develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the testing and deployment of applications, using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or AWS CodePipeline to streamline these processes.
Collaboration and Communication: You will work closely with product managers, designers, and fellow developers to gather requirements and deliver high-quality solutions. Your role will involve active participation in code reviews, design discussions, and technical planning sessions.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting: You will be responsible for monitoring application performance and reliability in production environments, diagnosing and resolving technical issues, and providing support as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
