Senior/Lead Python Engineer

This opportunity at Uptick is tailored for a strong Senior or Lead Python Engineer (web development, not data) to join the dynamic team in Melbourne. As a backend-focused role, you'll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing Uptick’s robust software platform, collaborating with the frontend team, and occasionally engaging with customers and product owners to define and implement business requirements.

Projects vary from feature-based enhancements to infrastructure refactoring and uplift projects. Examples include multi-tenancy improvements, service layer optimisations, CI/CD enhancements, IoT integration, and platform interoperability.

What’s my day-to-day?

  • Crafting solutions: Your primary focus will be deciphering business requirements and translating them into high-quality code. Whether it's building new features or refining existing functionalities, with a focus on prioritising long-term maintainability.

  • Driving continuous improvement: You'll play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration within our team. Your leadership experience will guide tech decisions and mentorship, ensuring that solutions adhere to industry-leading standards.

  • Project work: You'll be instrumental in various ongoing initiatives, from multi-tenancy projects aimed at optimising our hosting architecture to refining service layers for enhanced efficiency. The Uptick team has 40 members globally. The Melbourne-based engineering team consists of 20 developers, ranging from juniors to seniors. While they currently have strong expertise in frontend and DevOps, they are currently seeking a dedicated backend specialist to lead and drive our backend development efforts.

Interview Process

The interview process with Uptick is short and sweet, involving an initial interview with the CTO which includes a short coding challenge. The second (final) interview will be with Uptick’s CTO and Tech lead and will be focused on culture fit and any questions you have.
