Senior Backend Engineer

The role of Software Engineer at The Fruit Box is central to driving digital innovation and enhancing the company's online platform. You will collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop and maintain code across various platforms, and ensure high-quality deliverables through thorough testing and documentation. If you thrive on solving complex problems, optimising platform use, and navigating new challenges, this role is perfect for you.

Late last year, The Fruit Box launched its first ecommerce platform, and the success has been beyond expectations. They are now looking to bring core integration and backend development in-house, and have many ideas for optimisation, making this the perfect time to join and drive these initiatives forward.

What’s my day-to-day?

  • Develop and Maintain Code and Configuration: Write and maintain code and configurations for various platforms, including ecommerce (Adobe Commerce), integration (Celigo), middleware (AWS Lambda), backend applications (NetSuite), and other platforms.

  • Test and Document: Ensure all code and configurations are thoroughly tested and issues are documented to maintain high standards of quality and reliability.

  • Meet Deadlines and Document Work: Complete 80% of tasks by delivery dates with comprehensive documentation for all tasks.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration and Requirement Gathering: Work closely with IT and other stakeholders to document requirements for new solutions and ensure clear communication of project goals.

  • Provide Technical Support and Training: Offer ongoing system and technical support to users, including training, to ensure efficient use of platforms and technologies.

The Team

The Fruit Box team consists of 190 members across the business, with the head office in Melbourne housing 40 staff in key functions like tech, finance, HR and marketing. The Tech team includes roles such as a NetSuite Administrator, Project Coordinator, IT Manager, and IT support staff, supported by external partners. They are now seeking a Software Engineer to join this dynamic team, focusing on backend development and core integrations to enhance the ecommerce platform.

Interview Process

Once you've applied, expect an informal meeting over a coffee, beer, or online chat to get acquainted. Following this, you'll be given a take-home test involving making modifications to a NodeJS application, allowing you to showcase your skills (including any additional enhancements you think of).
