Who is Sapien Technology?
Sapien’s CEO, Rob, grew up on sheep & cattle farms in Australia and knows the livestock industry inside and out. 20 years ago, his engineering and entrepreneurial mindset built a piece of software that collected data on all the livestock to ultimately improve the way they were running the farm. 20 years on, Sapien is used by farmers across the whole of Australia and is a huge part of their success in running more sustainable farms.
With Rob’s extensive network in the agricultural industry, Sapien’s goal is to bring their product to new heights and release a new and exciting platform, not only for the Australian agriculture industry but to farmers all over the world.
Presently they are generating $ 2 million in revenue, which they are confident can be grown within their 3-5 year roadmap. One of their goals to achieve revenue growth is to build a new product to take to market by mid-2024. At this point, they will be in a position to scale the business, in particular their product, design, and engineering teams.

You’ll recommend the best course of action from a technology standpoint so you’ll need strong influential skills in order to bring the team on the journey with you and support them in up-skilling and learning engineering best practices.
What makes this role so exciting is the opportunity to modernise Sapien’s existing stack, and drive further adoption of modern software architecture and cloud-native applications. Whoever takes on this role will have the creative freedom to build new architecture and flex their Engineering muscles to introduce modern practices and technology to transform the product. Think: domain driven design practices, huge amounts of data, serverless cloud technology, event-sourcing architecture, cqrs, adoption of CI/CD pipelines, APIs and more.
