Tech Lead

We're on the lookout for a dynamic Technical Lead ready to make an impact on the advancement of sophisticated software systems. These systems are integral to improving the lives of millions through early access to their pay.

They are looking for a hands-on cross-functional Tech Lead who has experience building scalable event-driven distributed systems. They would love someone who has knowledge on data modelling, and relational, and non-relational databases, and understanding various systems and infrastructure is important. You will be working with a team of great engineers, and helping uplift and build out their capability. In terms of their current stack, all of their older microservices are written in C#, and newer APIs and Microservices are in Go. Your experience building event-driven systems doesn't have to be in Go, but having designed and developed some APIs in Go is key. 

Under the guidance of the Head of Engineering, you'll lead the development of our next-generation lending platform, empowering millions with early access to their pay. Leading a team of talented developers, you'll drive an atmosphere of collaboration, innovation and continuous growth. Our ideal candidate brings extensive software engineering experience, understanding of software design principles and industry best practices, and with strong communication and relationship skills.

What’s my day-to-day?

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor backend developers, promoting best practices in coding, architecture, and agile methodologies. Conduct technical workshops and training sessions to enhance the team's skills.

  • Architectural Design: Design and implement robust, scalable backend systems using modern patterns and practices. Ensure fault tolerance and high performance to handle substantial traffic efficiently.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with frontend developers, product managers, and QA engineers to deliver innovative solutions. Contribute insights to influence product strategy and design decisions.

  • Integration and API Management: Oversee integration of backend services with frontend applications and external systems. Manage third-party integrations securely and efficiently.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to optimize development processes and system performance. Identify and mitigate risks early to ensure project timelines and outcomes remain unaffected.

  • Problem-solving: Showcase excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, maintaining ownership and a proactive approach to tasks.

The Beforepay team is a team of 30 members that strategically leverage ML/AI in its business processes and products to effectively deliver more than 35,000 loans weekly. Their small team is growing fast with the objective to scale to 50 by the end of 2024.
